L252 YHR
1993 Peugeot 405 GLDT estate
Bought: November 2007 for £250, 247,000 miles
Sold: February 2008 for £230, 248,000 miles

I like 405 turbodiesels, so when an estate came up cheap I snapped it up.  My theory was that an estate car is always useful, and having another car around with the same mechanical makeup as my saloon would also be useful for swapping parts over.

Having said that I could never really get on with this one - although the mileage was stratospheric it ran beautifully, but I could never get the heater to generate any real heat, and there was no service history so I had no idea when the cambelt had been done.  Plus there was the issue of the non-matching panels - you can't see that the offside front wing is in black primer in the photo above - so when I got the chance to buy a Hunter with full history and aircon for £375, the GLDT's days with me were numbered.  Anyway, I sold it to a pair of German students who are going to drive it to Morocco, apparently...
