1999 Honda Accord 2.0i LS Automatic
Bought: September 2003 for £5,250, 17,500 miles
Sold: September 2006 for £1,800, 68,000 miles

Yes, I know by my standards it is quite new, quite decent and (definitely) quite expensive, but it seemed like a good price and I couldn't really resist it as I kept seeing it on the forecourt of the Honda dealer about 200 yards from my flat, every time I went to get a pint of milk or a newspaper. Eventually I took the plunge and raided my house deposit savings. Ah well.

I haven't really done much with it, except get a 6-disc CD changer fitted in the boot. Oh, and I didn't like the hubcaps they originally fitted as standard so I spent £800 (how much?!!) on a set of 16" OZ Superturismos and tyres. You know, the ones like the Touring cars have. You can just about make them out in the picture above. Nice eh? It's a high price to pay for vanity but I figure I'll be keeping the car a long time (or letting Jo drive it) so what the heck.

After I came back from Guernsey in April 2004, I went through the personal importation nightmare, which took 2 months (mainly to get hold of the requisite EEC Type Approval certificate, which seems ridiculous for a car that is UK-spec and was built in Swindon, but there you are) and the registration S855 ADP was allocated to it. It sailed through it's first UK MOT at 5-and-a-half years old (with 23,000 miles) in June and continues to rack up the miles (35,000 as at the end of 2004) on a daily basis. I'll be keeping this one a long time, I think - with aircon, cruise control and a decent CD player, it does everything I need. Now we have a house with lots of driveway and garage space though, I can indulge myself now and again with old bangers...

Update 16.9.06: Sold! Yes, it's true. Nothing wrong with it, just had the chance to get a company car - diesel economy proving too tempting. This car was a bargain for the new owner, but that's depreciation for you...
