Sold: July 2006 for £700, 70,000 miles
Another eBay special, and although I needed another car like a hole in the head, I couldn't pass this one up.
Why so cheap? Well, a badly slipping clutch was the main reason, so I got a new one from eBay (£15) but had to get it fitted professionally - Haynes don't do manuals for these cars! MOT for 3 months and one elderly female owner since 1990 - needless to say, it flew through the next MOT with no advisories...the exhaust holed the next day (another £200)...
No history to show whether the mileage was genuine, but overall condition was really good, bar the odd 'old person' ding. The interior was mint. It needed the expensive ministrations of an auto electrician to get all the windows and central locking working - Cheap Car Rule #1 - buy a car with as few electric toys as possible! In the end I had my fun and sold it on to a Scottish couple who had a donor car to make this one perfect. I probably lost about £150 in total but that's not bad going. Mind you, on the odd occasion I used the car for work it would only do about 25mpg so I would have been bankrupted driving it regularly anyway.
