Data Protection Resources

Rebecca Wong

The main objective of this webpage is to provide an introductory resource guide to data protection and privacy in general. Although this webpage has been running for over four years, the subject is as relevant as it was then in the light of technological developments. For news and developments on data protection and privacy, see DP Thinker Blog (created by me).

Recent developments include the UK  Freedom of Information Act 2000, which came into force on 1st January 2005. More details can be gleaned from the Department of Constitutional Affairs website and the Freedom of Information Act Blog (FOIA).

The latest annual report on data protection by Art. 29 Working Party  has been published and can be found here (pdf) and the Data Retentions Directive 2006/24/EC and the Montreux Declaration has been included in the "Core Resources" section.

For information about guidance, policy issues, position papers on data protection, please visit the UK Information Commissioner's website.

If you have any comments regarding the website or would like to inform me of any events relating to data protection or privacy, please use the feedback section.

Finally, thank you to everyone who has visited this website and has provided some feedback. I hope you have found the resources useful!
