Grants Committee of the RADC Association Committee

The Committee meet once during the year: The Secretary has authority to grant up to £400 out of Committee. Post and teleconference consider requests in excess of this with the other Members of the Grants Committee. No case is considered unless it has been sponsored by a welfare officer of a welfare organisation such as SSAFA or the Royal British Legion. Income policy. The Trustees continue to maintain an investment portfolio on the behalf of the Association: this is done through representation on the RADC Investment Committee and managed by their Investment Manager Carr Sheppards Crosthwaite Ltd.

Subscription income from the serving soldier's who subscribe under the days' pay scheme is paid each quarter. Fifty percent of income from soldier's subscriptions is retained for benevolence. Investment dividends and Inland Revenue tax refunds are either invested or held on deposit. The remaining fifty percent is devolved to support Corps institutions such as the Association itself, the RADC Central Fund, the RADC Bulletin, and the Army Medical Services Sports Union. Officers make an annual donation to the Fund from their HQ Mess subscriptions.

Subscriptions from the non-serving membership are credited direct to the RADC Association fund.

Welfare Grants Procedure. The Grants Committee of three is based at RHQ RADC and deals with all applications for welfare assistance up to a maximum of £1,000. The Secretary initially investigates all the applications and a case file is opened. The Secretary has authority to grant up to £400 per case, all such cases being subject to ratification by the Annual Meeting of the Grants Committee. Cases in excess of the Regimental Secretary's authority are forwarded with his/her recommendation for consideration by the other committee members. Any application that involves a grant of more than £1,000 from Association funds is referred to the Army Benevolent Fund for additional funding.

Benevolence Committee. This committee is convened Annually by the Secretary to consider all case files for the year. The composition of this committee is made up from the Representative Colonel Commandant, the Corps RSM and the Secretary.

Acknowledgements. The Trustees and the Association Committee extend their grateful thanks to the other Regimental Associations, The Royal British Legion and the Army Benevolent Fund for the very generous support given over the years to the members of the Association.

Donations. The President of the Association is grateful for private donations made by individual soldiers and officers. Officers may contribute using their Blue Book. Such donations should be sent to the RHQ RADC.

Excess income. All excess income is invested to increase the value of the capital base to provide for the future welfare needs of the membership of the Association.

Investments. Investments are divided between deposit accounts and in the Stock Market with the unrealised gain for the current year being shown in the income (using the RADC Investment Plan).

Examination of Accounts. The Association complies with the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP).

Subject to forwarding an A4 sized SAE, a full report and Statement of Finances can be obtained from the Regimental Secretary RADC at the RHQ RADC.
