Katana, of the most Honourable Ancestors XP 1200
This is a +1 weapon. In the hands of a warrior it functions as +3, but does not allow the user to parry or rout. Out of combat it functions as an amulet of life protection.
Should the wielder be knocked unconscious or killed in battle, a spirit rises from the blade and continues the fight, whilst protecting the body. Although the spirit appears to be a warrior from the far West, it is in fact the soul of the wielder. It has an AC of 2, modified by the wielders dex and 10x the wielders con in hits. Its THAC0 is the same as the wielders but the spirit blade functions as a +5 weapon. Should the spirit be slain the wielder is irrevocably dead, his soul becoming part of the host of the weapon.
While in spirit mode, the wielder has an insatiable hatred for all life and must make a willpower check to avoid attacking allies. The spirit will not attack relatives of the wielder, either living or dead. The only way to stop the spirit is to slay it or heal the wielder.
The blade empowers the wielder to know things. These can range from ancient knowledge, to the identification of magic items. The base chance is 1% per level and can be done 3 times a day, but never more than once on any one item. This knowledge comes from the previous owners of the sword.
After killing an opponent, the wielder can spend five rounds draining the corpse of all life energy. This has the effect of permanently slaying the creature (note, this only works on creatures on their native plane). Doing this heals the wielder by 1d4 hp per HD of the creature.
The weapon is not cursed and can be given up freely, although the owner will feel a strong sense of loss in doing so. It detects as Lawful in alignment and if a detect life is cast upon it registers as 53 distinct lifeforms (the previous owners).
Long Sword of GMor Tarreen XP 750
Forged for the warrior GMor Tarreen by the church of Azazon this served him well, until his death in the Giant Clan war of 38 years ago. It is now held in his local temple in Synia.
The sword is a +2 long sword which emits a faint red light when removed from its scabbard. When twirled above the warriors head, and Azazons name called out, the sword glows brightly giving all allies in a 30 radius a +1 bonus to hit and increasing their current hit point total by 25%.
Long Sword of the Mists XP 750
This narrow black blade is cold to the touch and always covered in a fine dew. It is +3TH and +2Dam and does double damage vs. cold using or water dwelling creatures.
Red Sword of Bloody Victory XP 2200
Originally wielded by an otherworldly being, this longsword radiates an evil glow. Brought from the depths of the Abyss it is CE in nature and demands sacrifices in combat. It attempts to dominate any wielder with and end to the destruction of all life, especially good. However, it will not deign to speak to the wielder unless their charisma is a match for its.
| Int.: 15 | Wis.: 13 | Cha: 15 |
Whilst initial inspection reveals the blade to be a simple sword of severing, if a sever should occur the wielder is forced to continue attacking the body until it has been chopped into at least 24 pieces. Whilst being held the wielder is seen to be frothing at the mouth and shouts in a strange guttural tongue, this prohibits spellcasting. Once drawn, the blade must do a least 50 points of damage before it can be sheaved. A successful willpower check must be made each round to prevent these effects.
In addition to its standard abilities the sword possesses the following:
Fireball, 8HD 3/Day Heal 1/Day Blink 3/Day
The sword is distressed when used indoors or underground and will make this known to the wielder, one way or the other.
Pradang was a minstrel from the city of Coml on the Jhang Tor, in the Tar'an Nor. It is said that "in combat, if his words did not defeat you then his blade surely would". He possessed this scimitar for some 30 years before his death at the hands of an irate husband in Dharsinian Inn.
In addition to being a +3 scimitar, the blade allows the wielder to match the number of attacks that his or her opponent possesses.
Scimitar +2, Singing XP 500
This +2 sword appears to be a highly jewelled weapon, but on inspection the jewels are revealed to be carved from the weapon and are simply painted. When given the command "WokKrha" or Watch the sword appears more beautiful than normal. Should anyone defined as an intruder, then enter within 10 of the sword, it begins to sing. If the intruder should fail a save vs. charm, their only action can be to approach the sword. If the sword is disturbed, the singing stops and the charm is broken. While charmed, individuals can only defend themselves but will not attack.
Sword of Timelessness XP 2500
Several of these swords are known to exist. All appear as rusted blades with rotting hilts and scabbards. Although none detect as magic each sword functions as +2. In addition the owner of the blade is protected against the ageing attacks of certain monsters (e.g. ghosts) as long as the sword is possessed.
