A Life-Like E7 Locomotive chassis modified to fit a Farish Class 37 body.
The modifications mainly consist of shortening the E7 chassis by approx 5mm, fitting Farish bogie side frames and reducing the size of the metal weights to fit inside the class 37 body. It isn't difficult to reduce the length of the chassis as it is made of plastic, I also removed one of the flywheels on the motor to accommodate the reduced length at one end. Fitting the bogie side frames is fairly easy, the Life-Like wheel centres don't exactly the axle box centres, but you can't see this when completed. There is quite a bit of filing to do on the weight blocks, but the material is soft and it isn't too hard to achieve the necessary shape.
The Life-Like chassis is of a very simple design, it has a 5 pole skewed armature, flywheels, blackened wheels and it works extremely well, both before, and after modification. I can highly recommend it to anyone who is tired of constantly repairing Farish drive units
