On Saturday 18th August, 2001, 5029 "Nunney Castle" made its second visit to Evesham with the second "Elgar Explorer". I decided to photograph the tour from platform 2 both ways this time, using a 70-300mm lens on the 'down' pass. However, any hope of using a long lens on the 'up' pass was thwarted by the deterioration of the weather during the afternoon and ultimately I was stuck with the 28-80mm lens for the evening session. My decision to load with ISO 800 ultimately proved to be a good one.
5029 "Nunney Castle" passes through Evesham with the down "Elgar Explorer". This is one of my favourite shots of all time.
"5029 returns later in the day with the up "Elgar Explorer". The water on the platform is testimony to the deterioration of the weather during the day, and this photograph required fast film & flash
