Jerry the Chinchilla

In September 2004, the first Kyte-Donovan pet moved in with me. His name is Jerry and he's a chinchilla. The idea to keep a chinchilla was my partner Catherine's, who had fallen in love with chinchillas when I took her to the West Midland Safari Park earlier in the year. After careful consideration of the idea, I decided that a chinchilla was a suitable pet for my lifestyle as it stands.

At the end of August 2004, Catherine saw an advert for Petcetra in Bewdley, near where she lives, which stated that they had chinchillas in stock. We went over one weekend to see them and Catherine fell in love immediately with the little guy above. He was one of a litter of three and he was the first to be sold.

Since September he has resided in my spare room. Being nocturnal, he spends the day asleep and becomes active in the evening. Most evenings he gets let out into the main bedroom for a run around, and his climbing skills have developed enormously since I'vehad him.
