The Races   (Courtesy of RAF Marham website - Click Here)
The second consecutive RAF Marham ten mile road race and fun run takes place on Saturday July 14th at Marham village. Both the RAF Marham ten and the one mile fun run are organised by members of RAF Marham, in aid of the charity Out and About, and are staged in co-operation with the Marham Village Fun Day.

The 1 mile fun run replaces last year's 3.5 mile fun run to include all ages and if you have always wanted to experience a mass participation event whilst raising money for charity then this 1 mile fun run is for you. However, if you are a touch more ambitious and feel there is a budding Brendan Foster or Paula Radcliffe in you then try the ten miler which includes a lap of the RAF Marham airfield.
This is a fast course that offers potential for achieving your Personal Best.

The main 10 Mile Race will commence at 10:30 am from the Marham Village playing field.
The 1 mile Race will commence at 10:35 am also from the Marham Village field.

Various Prizes will be given for the 10 mile race including medals for the first 10 places and certificates for all the 1 mile entrants. Race numbers will be issued on the day.
Please use the On-line entry forms - available via the Entry Central  website:

THE CHARITY
"Out and About" were founded in 1984 and they support disabled children children and young people aged 5-19, enabling them to access leisure activities in West Norfolk and Suffolk.

Out and About's aim is to enable disabled children and young people to access their right to full and active inclusion in life. Volunteers provide the majority of direct support work to the 262 children and young people that they support.

Raising funds, helps them to provide a free service to these people, as they believe that disabled children should be entitled to take part in 'ordinary life experiences'. If you wish to help in this valuable work or seek more information on this charity visit www.out-and-about.org.uk  where it is possible to print a sponsorship form.

The Contacts:
Entry Forms along with sponsorship forms for both races are available from the Entry Central website above.       Please note, the closing date for entries is 12th July 2007.
Finally, this event will only take place due to the efforts of volunteers. If you are willing to give up this day to act as a race marshal then please contact our volunteer coordinator SAC Phil Wolstanholme on RAF Marham 01760 337261 Ext 7564.

THE FUN DAY
All proceeds from the activities and entertainments on the field will be shared 50/50 between :

  • Marham Bowls Sport & Social Club refurbishment & renovation fund

  • Marham Parish Council Fund for a Children's Playground

THE MPC FUND
During 2006, the childrens playground situated on land owned by the Parish Council, alongside the Bowls & Social Club, had to be dismantled and removed. The equipment had deteriorated considerably and had become unsafe and possibly dangerous, under Health & Safety Regulations.

The Parish Council is currently examining quotations for a new playground, as well as applying for grant funding to cover the costs. They have also started a "Playground Fund" so that all proceeds from fundraising can be kept separate from other monies.

Marham Bowls Sports & Social Club asked their members to choose a recipient for the funds raised from the 2007 Fun Day, from a list of local charities and good causes and the Children's Playground Fund won the majority vote.

SO  PLEASE
COME  ON  DOWN  AND  ENJOY
THE  DAY  AND  SUPPORT  THE VILLAGE  IN  A  VERY  LOCAL
GOOD  CAUSE !!
