In 1976 Ricky recorded guitar on the Low album for David Bowie at Chateaux d`Herouville in Paris. It was while working here that he first met Iggy Pop.



In 1977 Ricky went to Berlin for rehearsals with David Bowie and Iggy Pop. They were joined by Hunt and Tony Sales. They toured the UK and USA to promote The Idiot. Following the tour the group returned to Berlin to record the legendary 'Lust for Life' album.

Photographs : Andy Kent In the late Autumn of 1977 Ricky went back to London to overdub the guitar top line for the BBC's Top of the Pops version of 'Heroes' with David Bowie for Tony Visconti. This is frequently used on the BBC and appears on the 'Dancing in the Street' BBC video. In 1978 Ricky set up his own home recording studio and became a father. He started writing music for meditation and exploring the use of computers in music. In 1987/1988 Ricky composed a symphony for computer, clarinet and voice called 'Precious Life'.

Ricky was born in Edinburgh in 1948 and started playing in bands at the he age of 14 ( Vostoks, Kingbees and The System). In 1969 Ricky formed Beggars Opera, a progressive rock band. They toured Europe extensively and were signed to Vertigo in 1971. They recorded 4 studio albums.
1970 Act One. 1971 Waters of Change (released on CD in 1989 and 1995). 1972 Pathfinder (released on CD in 1989 and 1995). 1973 Get Your Dog Off Me. All four have been digitally remastered and are available from Repertoire Records Germany. www.repertoirerecords.com
