The Strat

ricky strat

Ricky's Fender Stratocaster was made in 1968. The serial number of this guitar lies between the serial numbers of Jimi Hendrix' two favourite strats.

In 1971 it was customized by Seymour Duncan. The Alder body was routed to accommodate a more comprehensive switching system, and for tonal reasons.

The scratch plate was enhanced to suppress interference.

The standard controls were reconfigured to provide logarithmic and linear interacting volume controls, a top cut switch, and a straight through position. The pick-ups are individually selectable.

1987 - A Roland GM70 guitar synth was acquired and its pick-up assembly attached to the guitar.
1993 -
Seymour Duncan pick-ups were fitted.
1995 -
Acquired a Roland VG8, using the original Roland GM70 interface.

This guitar has been used extensively and most notably on David Bowie's Low album, and Iggy Pop's Lust For Life album.

It was also used on the 1977 Iggy Pop tour, with David Bowie on keyboards.

Ricky continues to use this guitar productively today.
Recent CD releases include:
Kumara - Confluence.
Beggars Opera- Close to My Heart /Touching the Edge (including Auschwitz)
