"VOYPIC WELCOMES THE BBC SERIES ABOUT YOUNG PEOPLE IN CARE"
Taking Care is a major new season across the BBC exploring the lives of young people and adults who have had the experience of living in care. The series is running over the fortnight beginning 14th February to 28th February 2004. Over this fortnight many types of care experience will be highlighted.
Taking care will use a range of TV and Radio programmes to go behind the statistics to tell the stories both of children and young people currently growing up in the care system and adult care leavers who have gone on, despite adversity, to achieve a happy and successful life!. The experiences will be told through personal stories of people across the UK and Northern Ireland.
You will all know Kerry McFadden who has now been crowned "Queen of the Jungle" in "I'm a celebrity get me out of here!" she talks openly about how being in care has affected her life. You will also see storylines in all the popular dramas over the coming months- Neighbours, Eastenders and Casualty. And, don't even think about asking what the storylines are, you'll just have to watch and see!
Hopefully the BBC series of documentaries and programmes will help to raise awareness and help remove the stigma and labelling that is attached to people who have an experience of being in care. Unless you have been through this kind of experience yourself or are directly linked to someone who has, there is little understanding around this issue.
Watch and get informed!
