This is what an Irish monastery looked like from the air. We know that the monks who lived here were worried about being attacked by the Vikings. Look at the picture and describe what the monks had built to defend themselves.

 

 

The round tower was a very important building, but there was another building which was special for the monks. Can you see it? What do you think it is?
