Makes brilliant saves, but may be a little suspect on catching when under pressure. No doubt gets specialist coaching from the manager, and seems better than Steve Curry to my uneducated eyes. Strange obsession with the number 13 shirt.
RELEASED SEPTEMBER 2001
Chose to come here above Stevenage after turning down the chance to go full time with Boston Utd. Their fans tell us we have got the best defender in the UPL. Looks very solid so far. Tall chap.
The final signing, and he could be the last piece in the jigsaw. Vastly experienced man who signed from York after 12 years and 450 ish games. Took injured Alex Allen's left back spot, but he will be hard to dislodge. Plays midfield as well, and likes to get forward. Short chap, with little hair.
Third season with us and continues to be the hard running engine in midfield. Tackles, runs and fetches all day, but passing isn't too hot. Absolutely committed to the cause and looks like being a good skipper.
God in a defender's form. Tall and accurate in the air, he misses little, and rarely has a bad game. Reads the game very well, and behind Phil Brown, he is probably the one with the best football brain. Dangerous at set pieces (at our set pieces, naturally)
Utterly reliable and has become a fixture in Tingay's team at centre back. Tough and rugged, he gives the impression that he would tackle a truck to stop a goal. Every team needs a defender like this, he's ours, and he's very good at it. Rarely seen in the opponents half, except at corners.
Ex Boston, but we will forgive him that, if he keeps playing like this. Takes players on down the wing, and usually beats them. Gets in good crosses 90% of the time which is very unusual for Trinity. Watts, Ranshaw and Ellington must be rubbing their hands in anticipation. Stan does seem to get fouled a lot.
THE key signing in my opinion. Absolute class in this league. Many people will remeber the key role he played in Ernie Moss's team in 1997-98. Joined us to become assistant to Tingay despite being offered a 2 year contract at Kettering. The elder statesman of the team, but still looks about 19. Will score goals from midfield, and will win several Man of the Match awards if the sponsors know anything about football.
Makes goals and scores them, and celebrates scoring brilliantly. Relatively short but very very strong and is rarely knocked off the ball. Turns defenders well, and is useful in the air. Trinity will do well to hold on to this talented youngster if he displays his best form.
"He's big, he's tough..........." err........ Well fill your own rhyme in, but it should be on the basis of a big centre forward knocking bits off the opposition back four. A bit of muscle that Trinity haven't had since Jason Maxwell left. Prediction: will score 15 goals, and will cause at least one opposition goalie to go off injured this season.
NOW WITH GRANTHAM
Got 17 from midfield for Frickley last year and has already started for us, just what we've needed for years. Big tall guy who is dangerous at set pieces, and runs around so much he makes Reedy look lazy. Possibly the least "glamorous" summer signing, but is going to be a real star.
Forged a good partnership with Ellington last season and scored 17 goals to be our top scorer. Had a great pre-season, and judging from his goal against Accrington, his luck may have changed. Honest and hard working, he seems just below top class.
Fast tricky, skillful enigma. Trinity's own Chris Waddle. Gavin (or "Rodders" to his team mates) specialises on standing still when he loses the ball. However, he is forgiven this, because he can beat men for fun, and pass brilliant Beckham like balls,. No really, he can.
Another quick boy, this time on the left wing. Missed a lot of the back end of last year, but looks promising.
Immensly promising and talented, he has played at both the left and the centre of the defence. Alex is probably best at centre half, and looks more natural there, but has worked hard to make a success of playing at left back. Un luckily injured in a pre-season friendly with a hairline fracture of the knee, he will miss the first few weeks of the season. Storms up field like an injured and enraged rhino, sometimes with the ball.
"Spanner": had an op at the end of last season, and should be avaiable soon. Looked like a real player 2 years ago, but had a bad patch last year. Was just coming back to his best when he got injured last year. Solid brick like figure in defence, particularly good in the air. Huge bloke, really massive.
Hasn't really had chance to establish himself and will struggle to get into this strong team. Quick, and likes to get forward, but needs to learn defending as a right back.
Now in his second spell with Trinity, Circs will miss the first 3 months of the season due to his firefighter training. Tough midfield player who had a generally disappointing 2000-2001 season, but he's very expereienced and the sort of player who needs to be in our squad.
Returned for his third stint as Trinity keeper: probably best known for his part in the recent Unibond Cup winning team. Tall, blond, veteran, he could give the team the solidity it needs between the sticks. Helped Stalybridge win the Unibond championship last year.
NOW WITH FRICKLEY
Much travelled as they say, and has been lively in his first few games. Battles Wattsy and Ellington for starting forward spots.
Much travelled as they say, (again) and looked a great signing when he inspired us to a 4-0 win at Whitby. Big bloke who shouts a lot and likes to take charge of midfield. I'm not totally convinced though.
