Home Road Movies is a 3D computer-generated animation that was produced on the Apple Macintosh platform.

We used the application Form-Z to build all the individual models and then brought them into ElectricImage to construct and light each scene.

Instead of using 3D modelling, the film was populated by real people. This was in the form of still photography or, in the case of the main character, by videoing the actor Bill Paterson.

He was filmed on blue-screen and then incorporated into the model scenes.

The sections of animation were all treated and manipulated in Adobe After Effects before being recorded to video.

The final stage was to convert the video images to 35mm film.
