COMMENTS Originally released in 1985
in the US (Amherst AMH 3302) and West Germany (Bellaphon 260-07-081). The US
cover features an airbrushed picture of Melanie giving her a “Cindy Doll”
look, which I guess is appropriate to the title. Some people have described
this as Melanie's disco album, maybe due to the drum machine sound that
accompanies a number of the tracks. In fact, for me, this album contains some
of Melanie's cleverest (Maybe I'm Lonely, Private Parts), and
in some cases (Abuse), most thought provoking song writing. Every Breath Of The Way and Some Body Love (originally
titled Didn't You Ever Love Somebody) are both re-recordings of songs
from the 1983 European album Seventh Wave. An extended version of Who's
Been Sleeping In My Bed was issued as a 12" single in the US. The CD can be quite hard to find
but copies do turn up on GEMM and Netsounds from time to time, though are
usually quite expensive. Bellaphon Records have now gone out of business. |
