THE RIGHT NOISES Staring:
Written
and Directed By Gerry O’Hara Produced
by: Original
Music and Songs by Melanie Safka Tom Bell plays a disgruntled young Brit who becomes bored by his job and his marriage. Bell impulsively launches an affair with 15-year-old actress (Olivia Hussey). But fear not: this isn't going to be "The Joey Buttafuco Story". Rather, both Bell and Hussey are brought to their senses when she thinks she's pregnant. Judy Carne, at the tail end of her Laugh-In generated fame, is adequate as Bell's loving wife. Director Gerry O'Hara based the screenplay for All the Right Noises on his own novel. - Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide. |

COMMENTS With the exception of My
Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean, which is traditional, Melanie wrote all the
original music and songs for this 1971 film starring Olivia Hussey, Tom Bell
and Judy Carne. In The Hour originally appeared on Born To Be,
but here is specially recorded for the soundtrack and there are five new
songs. The title track is an instrumental and each of the six songs appear as
instrumentals as well the vocal versions. The vocal version of Pebbles In
The Sand is, for some unknown reason, included twice on side two of the
album. The album has never officially
been released on CD. However, it is possible to find most of the songs
amongst the many compilations. In The Hour can be found on “The Best
Of The Rest Of Melanie” and “Her Songs”. Save The
Night is included on a number of compilations (though some incorrectly
list it as Jig Saw Puzzle). However, the most easily found of these
compilations is “The Very Best Of Melanie”, which also contains Pebbles In
The Sand. Please Love Me can be found on LaserLights compilation
simple titled “Melanie”. Please Love Me, In The Hour, Ears
To The Ground and Getting Out were all included as bonus tracks on
one of the early CD release of Candles In The Rain (Axis/EMI CDAX
701480) Oddly, My Bonnie Lies Over
The Ocean, the only track Melanie didn't actually write, turns up on the
“Oldie Giants” CD. |
