AFFECTIONATELY MELANIE UK CD released in 1993 on SEQUEL
RECORDS, NEB CD 662 Until 2007 this was the only CD
version of this album. It used the
original UK packaging and had good sound quality. Like other CD releases it
became a collector item. |

COMMENTS The US release of this album
was simple called Melanie and was released in 1969 on the Buddah label
(BDS 5041). For the UK it was re-named Affectionately Melanie (Buddah
203 028) and was also re-packaged. While the US issue came in a gatefold sleeve
that opened up to reveal the lyrics, the UK issue came in a single sleeve
with separate lyric sheet. The UK album also contained Melanie's message to
the buyer in hand written form instead of typed as on the rear of US cover. The original UK album was
released in December 1969 and re-issued in August 1974 (BDLP 4016). Beautiful People b/w Uptown and Down
(Buddah 201 066) was released as a UK single in August 1969. Tuning My
Guitar was also released as a single but was withdrawn. However, demo
copies do exist (Buddah 201 063) and are now collectors’ items. |
