BORN TO BE UK CD release in 1992 on C-FIVE
RECORDS C5CD 582 The album made its first appearance
on CD in 1992 with this release. The sound quality is good, though some tape
hiss can be heard throughout. The CD does contain an odd version of Momma,
Momma, which appears to be edited when compared with the original
recording. After the CD went out of print it soon became a collectors item
commanding high values on auction sites. |

FANTASTIC COLLECTION German CD released in 1993 by Castle
Communications Deutschland GmbH, CHC 7070 This German release combined Born
To Be and (most of) Leftover Wine on a single disc. The CD used
the albums re-issue title of My First Album. It also seems to have
been prepared from a different source tape from the UK version as the sound
quality seems better and the original recording of Momma, Momma is
included. |

COMMENTS This appropriately titled
first album was released in the US on the Buddah label (BDS5024) in November
1968. Following Melanie's success at the Woodstock Festival in 1969 Buddah
re-packaged and re-issued the album as My First Album (BDS 5074) In the UK the album did not
gain a release until May 1969, again on the Buddah label (203 019) and was
re-issued in 1974 (BDLH 5002). Two singles preceded the albums release in the
UK; Mr Tambourine Man b/w Christopher Robin (201 027) released
December 1968 and Bo Bo's Party b/w I'm Back In Town (201 028)
released February 1969. Bo Bo's Party became a number 1 single in
France. |
