COMMENTS Looking at the cover and
tracking listing of this CD it would appear to be just another compilation
and only a small comment on the back of the cover tells you otherwise: 'this
album contains new recordings by the original artist'. There is no new material here
but these are indeed new recordings. Though there is no information with the
CD I would surmise that these sessions were recorded in early 1999 when it
was said that Melanie was working on recording some of her early material
with her son Beau-Jarred. Using session musicians, many of the arrangements
are faithful to the original versions. However, the songs work best when the
arrangement is more adventurous and an attempt is made to do something new,
such as People In The Front Row, Baby Day or Baby Guitar. |
