LIVE AT THE MELTDOWN FESTIVAL 2007

 

With guitar in hand, Melanie conquered Woodstock and the original Glastonbury with her song-writing, powerful voice and even more powerful message. She was once hailed by The New York Times as the female Bob DyIan and was the first solo pop/rock artist ever to appear at Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Opera House, the Sydney Opera House. Her record sales are more than eighty million to date and her songs have been covered by singers as diverse as Cher, Dolly Parton, and Macy Gray.

Although UNICEF made her its spokesperson, she has continued to tour world-wide, but not in Britain. She played her last sell out British gig nearly 20 years ago before Jarvis Cocker sent her a special invitation to open the Meltdown Festival at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London in June 2007. This DVD showcases that intimate evening’s performance from a unique songstress who sings all of her hits including Brand New Key, Beautiful People, Peace Will Come, Hush A Bye, Ruby Tuesday, Alexander Beetle and many more.

Includes all the songs from the Meltdown Festival performance, plus the sound-check rehearsal. Also included is footage of Melanie performing in 1972 from the Glastonbury Fayre film and back-stage interviews.

SIX CLASSIC ALBUMS RE-ISSUED

 

        

 

Six of Melanie’s classic albums have been re-issued by Demon Edsel Records, part of the Demon Music Group (DMG).  The albums have been packaged as 2 for 1 release as follows:

 

Born To Be/Affectionately Melanie (EDSS1001 single CD)

Candles In The Rain/Leftover Wine (EDSD2001 double CD)

The Good Book/Gather Me (EDSD2002 double CD)

 

Each release includes a comprehensive booklet containing elements from the original album sleeves as well as extensive newly written sleeve notes. Bonus material is taken from the soundtrack albums R.P.M .and All The Right Noises, and two tracks from Sunset and other Beginnings.

 

Candles In the Rain also includes the full version of Lay Down (Candles In The Rain) running for 7:40mins as well as Alexander Beetle, which was not included on the initial UK release of the album.

 

All three CDs were released on February 5th, and are available from major on-line retailers. More detailed information can be found via the Album Discography under the relevant titles.
