QOFL 3 - Triscombe Stone - 4 December 2005 Results

Triscombe Planners Comments

I hope people enjoyed the reasonably good weather on Sunday after a miserable time the previous
afternoon putting out controls. I was relieved that no juniors suffered the feared exposure to the
elements on Wills Neck and instead were rewarded with some lovely views!
No one complained too much about the amount of height gain involved in the longer courses -
honestly that was the minimum I could get away with and still make the courses interesting.  Earlier
versions were longer and seemed to include even more  descent and ascent.  I was interested to see
the huge range of times taken to reach the first control on Blue - a direct approach was not the right
choice as it took you over some horrible ground.  Going round on the path and then down the
recently cleared break, or down an earlier vegetation boundary were better choices. Many thanks as
usual to all the many helpers, especially those who collected controls from the far corners of the
area - I discovered the obvious penalty of hilly courses was that setting them up was equally hard
work as competing.

QOFL SCORES

Published with the results are the QOFL scores after three events. At the end of the season the first
three in each Elite class will receive a certificate whilst the winner will receive a trophy. We shall
also be showing a League table based on the handicap scores of each competitor and here just the
winner of each class will receive a certificate. A reminder that only members of recognized BOF
orienteering clubs are included in the League. Should anyone join a club having competed as an
individual in previous events then I will award points retrospectively. Occasionally competitors
enter different classes at various QOFL's and I have to try and work out which class they would
like to score points on - 80% of their points can be taken up a class. Finally the League is only
open to individual competitors.

If there are any queries about the scores please contact me.

Next QOFL (No. 4) is on Sunday 8th January at Quantock Forest North at Grid Reference
ST162382. For details ring Chris Philip (Team 1) on 01823 252938. Registration from 11.30.a.m.
Starts from 12 midday to 2.00.p.m.
