Quantock Summer Score Event 1 on 30 May 2003 at Culm Davy

Planners/Organisers Comments: First a big thankyou to everyone for turning up and having a go. It makes all the time and effort well worth while. Second My thanks to Chris, Ian, Roger and Judy for helping on the day. I think Ian deserves a special mention because he has been coming to our events, it seems since he could walk, always helped and never wanted to run, a true stalwart; thank you Ian. Now to the event itself. I received lots of favourable comment about the format which to some extent was forced on us by the size of the area. I cannot claim it was all my idea indeed Bill Vigar was the one who suggested we could try something that was a score event with a difference. After much discussion all positive I thought I would give this format a go. It has three big advantages, lots of flexibility for the competitor, more problems/fun for the competitor and a simple format for the organiser/planner. As you saw start, finish and registration was done with two people and car parking took one person. As to the results I hope I haven't made any mistakes but if you think I have don't hesitate to let me know and I will check for you. In the event of an appeal after the check I will of course refer the matter to the event referee, who is me!!!!!!!

The Second Score Event is on the 28 June at Ramscombe. Starts from 1030 to 1230 but I could keep them open a bit later if you ask me early. The second event will be a straight 1 hour score, one map 25 controls. Details on the QO website (via BOF website) or from Ted Heath 01823-251985. There are three bar-b-que stands at the picnic area but they are available on a first come first served basis.
