The overall form is robust, the substantial column rises from the suitably proportioned base which features the green veining often seen in this timber. A shallow Oak bowl of subtle design, featuring a delicate bead detail around the mid line and deep cove below the outwardly flaring rim.

This Bowl is an excellent example of well spalted and figured timber, it's surface is alive with a matrix of different striation's and shades constantly attracting interest.

A simple bowl but displaying all the wonderful characteristics of the maple burr found in the Pacific North West of the USA, accentuated in this case by the application of finishing oil prior to wax polishing.

The very fine figuring and spalting in this piece gives it a very soft and subtle appearance, an intricate honeycomb like pattern of fine spalting encapsulates the dense swirling burr detail interspersed with small bark inclusions.

There are no gum lines present in this piece but then you cant have everything, sitting atop it's sturdy base the distinct curvature of the wall gives way to the crisp undercut detail round the rim.

Another small stemmed bowl with extremely fine figuring and burr detail, delicate base and under cut rim.

This piece has the look and feel of the Orient, simple and elegant, reminiscent of the classic drinking bowl found in many eastern cultures.

Very fine figuring and slight spalting is evident in this hollow form which features a radial detail around the centre line giving the impression it consists of two pieces.
Sycamore 2.3/4 tall x 5.3/4 dia.
Footed Bowl turned from a beautiful example of spalted timber which clearly demonstrates the artistry of nature. The bowl wall rises sharply from the modestly detailed foot and curves inwards ever so slightly,then outwards to form the pronounced flared rim.
