I have been using this Lathe for a number of years now and I can confidently report that the Wivamac DB1000 Vario is a well engineered professional lathe. The Vario speed control box ( optional ) can be seen to the left of picture which, in conjunction with the manual pully system gives the turner precise speed control. Chuck selection is down to the customer and not supplied with the lathe, in my case I have fitted the Axminster self centering precission chuck. The configaration seen here is for outboard bowl turning utilising the optional bowl turning attachment.

Since I first aquired my Wivamac Lathe they have gained in popularity, the well known British Turner Allan Beecham who has been turning for 50 years said "the DB801 Vario bench top model was the best small lathe I have ever used".
