AREA REPRESENTATIVESThe current visiting scheme operated by the SW Committee whereby all member Societies are allocated a "Visitor" who maintains contact between the Society and the Making Music organisation is being replaced by the establishment of Area Representatives.. With the expansion of the South West Region to cover Wiltshire, East Dorset and the Bounemouth areas and the steady growth in the number of member Societies (the Southern Area did not have a visiting scheme) some 115 Societies were found to have no contact person with Making Music. These Societies have all been allocated a member of the SW Committee who has or will establish contact with them by telephone.. The SW Region has been divided into 10 areas each of which will have at least one Area Representative to maintain the essential link between the Member Society and Making Music. We need more Area Representatives and our Chairman would like to hear from anyone who would like to undertake this interesting and important role. Prospective Area Representatives will be given full briefing and out of pocket expenses will be paid. A series of meetings have been held in each of the 10 areas. Making Music Representatives met our then Chaiman, Peter Clarke and Rachel Levay. These meetings were well attended and it is hoped that they will lead to the recruitment of new Representatives and hopefully some new faces on the Area Committee.
