XMAS PARTY ON 25TH NOVEMBER 2008 With
the weather forecast threatening snow I did wonder whether we would have
much support this time. The morning arrived and yes for once the
forecast was correct just when I didn’t want it to be. Snow was on the
ground. We decided to carry on as normal and set the hall up ready. 11
O’clock came and only a few had arrived. Then all of a sudden the hall
was packed. I couldn’t believe it. People had travelled from all over
the Country to attend. What dedication for such a good cause. Father
Christmas made his entrance followed by his helper Sylvia. He gave
presents to all the dogs before he continued with the novelty classes
and games. All
the classes were well attended and again the favorite was musical mats
which we had to have two rounds of. John Braybrook and Robert Taylor
were the winners. Another favorite was pass the parcel. The rest of the
classes, games and races went with a swing with everyone enjoying
themselves. It’s so nice to hear such laughter. Again
Gail and Hilary provided a delicious hot lunch of soup, baked potatoes
and apple crumble. Yum Yum. Lorna
and Roxy were busy all day on the tombola and raffle which was the
biggest ever. June was in charge of the Club stall and sold lots of BGV
goodies. Greta Mycock baked a wonderful Christmas cake which you had to
guess the weight of. A friend of Diana and Alan Smith kindly donated a
beautiful cross stitch picture which was raffled. Santa
ran an auction at the end of cakes and other goodies. Santa’s
helper Sylvia had a hard job controlling Santa organizing the classes
and giving out the prizes. She did a fantastic job. The Sponsors were
exceptionally generous the whole stage was covered in boxes of goodies.
I believe everyone went home with at least a bagful or two. A
big thank you goes to all the helpers, sponsors and all of you that made
the effort to come in such bad weather. The
sponsors were: FOLDHILL FOODS, PEDIGREE, ROYAL CANIN, DORWEST HERBS,
WAGG, PASCOES, CROMESSOL, JAMES WELLBELOVED, COBBYDOG, INTERPET,
JOHNSONS VETERINARY AND ANCOL. The
total amount taken including donations and less expenditure was a
massive £1119.22 WOW
Makes all the hard work worthwhile. Rose
