When
I first showed this Print at a Print Criticism Night at the Scottish
Circle, one of the members asked
where
did I get the Vans? He worked for the Post Office, and had never,
ever, seen so many clean, neatly parked vans.
This
was exactly as I saw them in the P.O. yard in Truro, and there were a
lot more than this 13. The interesting pattern caused by them all
being reversed up against the curving wall, was fascinating. I took a
fair number of pictures, but it was very awkward, because the wall was
almost too high, and I had to really stretch.
I
liked this one best because of the reflections in the roofs and the lack
of P.O. Badges. I darkened the wall down just a bit to remove
distracting detail. This picture does not contain any colour other than
red, but it still works well, because of the almost abstract shapes,
which we all know are P.O. Vans.
I
never did find out if he ever made a pilgrimage to Truro, just to see
these vans.
