The
Annual Council of Achievement was held at Pendle
Community Church, with the awards and membership
certificates presented to the Rangers by North
West Section Commander and National Aide-de-Camp
Bob Holland. Aka, Bob the Builder. After
presenting the awards Commander Bob brought the
message with the aid of a most spectacular magic
show.

Happy, smiling, clean and
not knowing what they have let their selves in
for.
Here we see the intrepid
adventurers just before setting off for Royal
Rangers' 25th Anniversary Camp. Led by,
Commanders Barbara, Heather and Stu.

Part
of the Royal Ranger motto is 'Ready for Anything'
Here we see commanders from Newcastle, Worcester,
Scunthorpe, Nelson, Wigan and Droitwich Spa being
set up big time. The event is the dry weetabix
eating race by the team jokers at the on camp
it's a knockout. And no contrary to popular
misconception, Stu didn't win it.

Another
great part of life on camp, is Outpost
participation. At the meetings each outpost is
invited to bring a song or a joke or a sketch to
the party. Musical talent can sometimes be a
disadvantage, but we didn't have that problem.
Our idea developed over the week into something
of a space oddity. With an official designation
of Outpost 51 and a camp comprised mainly of
teenagers, our campsite soon became known as Area
51. Hence the photo, where Barbara and Stu are
doing a sketch based very loosely on the X Files
(Apologies to 20th Century Fox, we're big fans
really). Barbara came on stage first and asked
the audience not to be alarmed and then called
for Stu saying that something strange was
happening. Stu's opening line in a very
Mulderesque style was "Yeah I know. It
reminds me of an incident that occurred at
Roswell, New Mexico, where aliens abducted a
group of teenagers, replaced them, and nobody
noticed the difference. As if that dialogue was
bad enough, then we tortured the audience further
by singing to them.

Every
morning at parade the camp chaplain gives his
devotion. This particular morning was especially
memorable as a great number of young people came
forward to accept The Lord Jesus Christ as their
Master Ranger.

The
Millennium Camp was held at Walesby in Sherwood
Forest, and was a mix of Robin Hood folklore and
the white heat of new technology. A Fellowship of
the British Isles quest also took place with
several rangers and commanders being initiated.
