FURCOATED FILMSTARS
Five Siberian Huskies from Cocking, Nr Midhurst, West Sussex, UK have made their movie debut in the action thiller Tomb Raider.

Zak, Mishka, Kaz, Tipps and Zante spent two weeks in the unfamiliar surroundings of Pinewood Studios with their owner, Julian Hickman, racing with the sleds through an ice cave with thunderflashes going off and a liberal dose of dead bodies along the way

Julian, who makes wrought iron work for a living, was recruited for the film Tomb Raider because he and his dogs are regular sled-racing competitors. "We spent the first week with the stunt team to make sure we could get the speed and knew which way to go through the tunnels. The stars, Angelina Jolie who plays Lara Croft and John Voight were brought into the second week of filming. They had no idea of working with dogs" he said.

His team of huskies were not too bothered about the thunderflashes and a vet was on hand to ensure their welfare and provide ear plugs if they needed them

The above is an excerpt from the West Sussex Observer dated September the 6th 2001.
