Spoilers: Set after Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Summary: Hermione comes to terms with the death of her
parents
Hermione was helping Willow to restore the students and the house elves. It was only taking a few seconds to restore the students back to flesh and blood.
Sirius Black noticed how differently Hermione was acting. "What is troubling Hermione?" He asked Willow
"Dementors murdered her parents. She's cried at first then raged. She isn't grieving." Willow replied in a whispered, as Hermione restored Ron Weasley.
Ron went to hug her, she took a step back. "She holding everyone at arm's length." The redhead sighed and restored a Hufflepuff student. "Will you go with Dobby and find any elves still frozen?" She asked the wizard.
"Yes, of course." Sirius replied and headed off to find Dobby.
Willow walked over to Hermione. "Hermione, will you check the roof for me. I thought I saw someone up there."
The girl was silent for moment. "Yes." Hermione walked off.
Ron and Ginny went to go after her. "Leave her be." The redhead spoke with a sad face. "Her parents died less than 24 hours ago. She needs time alone to accept what happened."
"Oh crap." Ginny spoke at this.
"While Hermione has sometime alone, my car is outside the front door. Can you get it inside the castle grounds for me please." She spoke to Ron turning to Ginny she asked. "Why couldn't you notify the outside world?"
"The fires didn't work. The owl's were missing." Ginny explained.
Hermione walked up the stairs on to the roof. She looked out into the distance. The sky was stormy. The clouds were blocking out light. She felt an emptiness inside her chest. Memories of her childhood home flooded her mind.
Where has the starlight gone?
Dark is the day
How can I find my way home?
The memory was painful. She no longer had her home. A tear threat to leave her eye. She felt only alone.
Home is an empty dream
Lost to the night
Father, I feel so alone
She collapsed to her knees. No long able to stop the tears as the sunset. Childhood memories of her mother and father over ran her. How they where always there when she needed then.
You promised you'd be there
Whenever I needed you
Whenever I call your name
You're not anywhere
This time she was truly, on her own. More, she tried to hold on less she could. She needed them to say everything would be okay. Just her mother saying her name would be reassurance enough, that this was a nightmare.
I'm trying to hold on
Just waiting to hear your voice
One word, just a word will do
To end this nightmare
Hours of crying went by. The night was cold. The cloud's block the stars and the moon. She walked round the battlements. She found no one. She sat with her knees under her chin her cloak wrapped around her.
When will the drawing break
Oh endless night
Sleepless I dream of the day
She just sat there. Willow had came up and sat silently next to her for a time. The redhead had eventually fell to sleep. Though Willow had fought the need to sleep trying to be there, if Hermione wanted to talk.
When you were by my side
Guiding my path
Father, I can't find the way
Hermione felt without direction. Her parents had helped kept her focused. Now she was a drift.
You promise you'd be there
Whenever I needed you
Whenever I call your name
You're not anywhere
Her parents would not come when her called out to them. More tears flowed from her eyes. She spoke to her mother and father as if they were in front of her.
I'm trying to hold on
Just waiting to hear your voice
One word, just a word will do
To end this nightmare
The wind was making the night air colder. She felt cold and lifeless inside. She had nothing left, her strength to hold on was gone completely. She no longer holding on, to the hope this was a nightmare.
I know that the night must end
And that the sun will rise
And that the sun will rise
Hermione looked round, in the east, the sun was just below the horizon. A strange calm came over her.
I know that the clouds must clear
And that the sun will rise
And that the sun will rise
The clouds began to brake, as acceptance took a hold of her.
I know the night must end
And that the sun will rise
And that the sun will rise
I know that the clouds must clear
And that the sun will rise
And that the sun will rise
A small smile formed on her face, as the first rays of the sun lit the sky.
I know
Yes I know
And that the sun will rise
Yes, I know
I know
The clouds must clear
The wind moved the clouds apart, to let the light cover the land. Hermione was at peace inside. No longer fighting her herself. She had taught herself to be.
I know the night must end
And that the sun will rise
And I'll hear your voice deep inside
Inside, Hermione felt her parent's love for her and could hear their voices.
I know that the night must end
And that the clouds must clear
The sun
The sun will rise
The sun
The sun will rise
The sun was lift above the horizon. The owls could be heard and so could the thunder of hooves.
