"Guilt."  The word rattled in the homeless girl's memory.  "You will not remember who you truly are or how to get back here for a period of nine months."  The witch judge had spoken.  "Not even your family will be able to find you! Or you them!"  Her wand was broken in half in front of her.

She did not remember her own name.  "Nine months."  She whispered to herself.  She knew the date she was exiled from was six months past.  She looked up at a sign.  It read, "Welcome to Sunnydale."

She carried on walking it was getting dark, she needed to find food and shelter. Well, drinking water would do for now.

A few hours later Dawn Summers was bored.  She and Willow had just completed patrol.  "I make that 10 vampires tonight."  The redhead spoke.

"Newbies, Will."  Dawn played with her stake.

There was a scream!

"Dam!"  Dawn cursed, as the pair ran in the direction of the scream.

"Well, boys look what we got here a witch."  A thug of a vampire spoke, as a group five vampires surrounded the homeless girl.  The girl was holding her neck, blood was on her hands.

"Then why ain't she blasting us." Another asked.

"She must have lost her wand."  The thug spoke.

"I don't know about wands, but then again I never needed one."  Willow spoke.

They turned.  The thug was hit in the heart with an arrow.  A couple more fired off!  Two more became dust.

"You know I get pissed when someone thinks they can eat another witch."  Tara lent on her bow.

A hex and a stake finished the other two off.  The dust settled.

Tara and Willow hugged and quickly kissed.  "When did you get back?"  Willow asked her arms around Tara's back.

"An hour ago." Tara grinned.  "Cordy phoned said that this homeless girl needed protection for a while.  I think we found her."  Another quick kiss.

"Hey, the girl's bleeding."  Dawn spoke.  "And she's out cold."  The two witches broke apart.

"We better get her inside."  Willow lifted the girl up into her arms.

Fortunately this evening they came across no more vampires or other creatures of the night.

A redhead called Ginny Weasley was waiting in a judge's chambers in England. She was waiting for a reaction to what she had been explaining for the last hour.  Professor Dumbledore was waiting too.  The judge who had sentenced the girl in Sunnydale sighed.  "It appears that investigation was incomplete, to began with.  Given this evidence, the charge against  Ms Granger was unfounded.  I revoke the conviction."

"Can we get her back?"  Dumbledore asked.

"That's not possible the Aurors in charge of watching her, lost her,"  the judge spoke.  "We have to let enchantment has to run it's course Professor.  Even, if we did get her back here, the enchantment would have to run its course."

"How is she going to react?" Ginny asked, as she the the Professor left the judge's chamber.  "When she finds out her parents have been dead for two months already and she wasn't allowed to attend the funerals."

"Badly," Dumbledore answered.  "Miss Weasley,  Miss Granger has the right not to return if she chooses. I fear she choose not to return.  Given what's happened to her, especially how wronged she's been."

The girl opened her eyes she was on a sofa in a house.  "Where am I?  Who are you?"

"I'm Dawn Summers."  A dark haired girl replied.  "This is my home and whose two are Willow and Tara.  Willow's the redhead."  Willow was checking a few internet sites on her trustee laptop to see if the girl was listed as missing.

"Home?"  The girl questioned.  "I can't remember where mine is."  The girl sat up bring her legs towards her body, so she could rest her chin on her knees.  She noticed her was wearing a white t shirt and grey jogging bottoms. "Where my clothes?"

"In the washer."  Dawn answered.

"Who? Who changed me?  Who washed me?" She asked.  "Magically?"

"Tara and Willow did, after they healed you." A smile formed on the girl's lips at Dawn's response.

"Thank you."  She smiled towards the two witches.

"What's your name?"  Tara walked over and sat next tot he girl

"I don't remember." The girl replied.

Willow lift her head up and then looked back at her computer. The court records of the Aurors Council.  There was a photograph of the girl.  It read; Granger, Hermione Anne, 15, former Hogwarts student, convicted of unauthorised use of Unforgivable, sentenced to nine months in exile.  Conviction revoked after new evidence came to light.  Victim recovered memory and testimony given cleared Ms Granger of any wrong doing..  Status: missing/misplaced.

A few more links.  The missing persons report read;

Hermione Granger, missing, suffered head injuries while doing court ordered attendance at a youth attendance centre, in Boston. Medical Diagnosis: Organic memory loss.  N.B. Parents were killed in a car accident.

A few quick keystrokes and Willow paled at what she read; Reward Dead or alive. Hermione Granger the Mudblood. £1 million pounds apply LV.

"Tara," Willow spoke, closing her laptop.  "Can I speak with you a minute, honey."

"Be right back." Tara followed.

"I think I know why Cordy was sent the vision."  Willow whispered to Tara.

"Go on honey." Tara gave Willow's hand a squeeze.

"I've id her as one Hermione Anne Granger, she was convicted of a crime she didn't commit and exiled her. They only just cleared her of any wrong doing.  I've also discovered Voldemort's after her."

Tara gasped.  "Don . . .Don't say his..s n. . .name.  H  . . He's ve . . . ry bad..ad."

Tara's lips were captured by her lover's.

"Then we better make sure he doesn't find her." Willow grinned.

"We're going to have to deal with child welfare again."  Tara stated.

"No need,"  Willow shook her head.  "The girl's a witch we could use the Magical Apprentice laws like we did with Dawn to deal with that department."

"We could ask Xander and Anya to witness the agreement."  Tara stole a quick kiss.  "If the girl agrees.  You know that enchantment will stop us telling her who she is until after you take her has your apprentice."

"Me!"  Willow yelped in surprise.

"Yes,"  the blonde confirmed.  "Only allowed one apprentice each remember. Dawn's mine."

"I'll ask her." Willow kissed Tara.

There was a laugh from the living room.  "Again."  It was Hermione.

Dawn levitated a half used pencil.  Willow and Tara watched from the door way.  Dawn made the pencil fly in a circle.

Hermione giggled.

"Sorry to break this up, but its your bedtime Dawn."  Tara spoke.

"Awe," Dawn groaned standing and heading for the door

"I want a little chat with our guest."  Willow added.  "Go get ready."

"Awe right see you later."  Dawn called as she went upstairs.

Willow sat next to Hermione.  "You were exiled."  It was a statement.

"Yes,"  The girl toyed with her hair.

"You've been cleared, of the crime they exiled you for."

"I have."  The girl smiled.  "Then why is it so hard to remember?"

"You were hurt."  Willow answered.

"Hit on the top of my head."  The girl frowned.  "Woke up in hospital.  Only remember pieces, flashes.  Remember pain lots of it.  Sensed danger grabbed clothes and ran."

Willow nodded.  "Do you remember the enchantment they put on you?"

"Some," The girl pulled a face. "It hurt."

"There's a way to dissolve the spell."  The redhead spoke.

"How?"  The girl asked with a smile.

"An exiled witch who never completed her apprenticeship can be apprenticed to another witch."  Willow explained.  "It lets the other witch speak the former exile's name, that melts the enchantment."

"So, if I become someone's apprentice, the exile spell will cease working?"  Hermione sort confirmation.

"Got it in one." A smile formed on Hermione's lips.

"But who?"  The girl wondered.

"Me, if you want to?" The redhead smiled.

"Yes! Yes!"  Hermione hugged Willow.

"Air becoming an issue." The redhead gasped.

Next morning.  Tara and Willow had set up a table for the Apprenticeship Ceremony.  Tara was dressed in gold and blue robes and Willow's robes had a pattern of flames.

Upstairs Dawn straighten out Hermione's robes a bit.  The robes Dawn was wearing mirrored Tara's in design.  Hermione's robes were a faded red in colour.  Anya was fussing over the goblet that they going to use, double checking the herbs in the vessel were fresh.  "They'll do." Anya announced.  "Can we get on with it.  Want want an . ."

"Honey," Xander placed a hand over Anya's month.  "You'll scare the girl."

"You two about ready?"  Tara called up.

"Yes."  Dawn called back bring Hermione to the top of the stairs.

"What happens?" Hermione asked.

"Tara chants some ancient stuff.  Willow puts a few drops of her blood in a cup. Then she anoints you with it." Dawn answered guiding the girl into the living room.

Tara began chanting.  Willow cut her thumb and let the blood drip into the goblet.  Dawn led Hermione forward.

Willow offered Hermione the knife and indicated that she should do the same.  The girl paused for a moment and cut her thumb a drop of her blood added to mixture of herbs of Willow's blood.

The redhead then anointed Hermione's forehead and hands.  The girls robes changed and matched Willow's.  The redhead then went to the table and pressed her injured thumb on a parchment.  Willow then offered Hermione the parchment.  She read the word apprentice.  She pressed her cut thumb next to it.  The scroll glowed and disappeared.

"It is done.  Hermione."  Willow spoke.

The exile was over.
