Thin Air, White Water
In 1986, a team of canoeists decided to film their attempt to descend on the worlds highest river, the Dudh Kosi coming from Mount Everest. To assist with aerial photography and river reconnaisance, two microlights were airlifted to Katmandu to join the expedition. One of these planes flown by Simon Baker, a Khumbu Raven, made by Southdown International from Brighton, proceeded to land in a dried up lake bed near the Everest Base Camp. At 17,500 feet, this is the highest that any aircraft has ever successfully landed.
