How-To... - Creating A Splash Screen

Lots of programs use splash screens - Paint Shop Pro, PhotoShop, Visual Basic, and even Windows. But Why ? Splash screens are usually used to show the user something while the program was setting itself up. When you start up Photoshop, it is much better to see the splash screen telling you what it is doing, rather than looking at mostly grey screen wondering what is happening. Some programs just use them to show you information about the program.
