Our names are Dennis, Patrick and Robert Langworthy, father and twin sons who live in Dartmouth, South Devon. We have always enjoyed cycling from an early age, see photo's in gallery, and have previously taken part in sponsored cycle rides for Barnardo's and the British Heart Foundation. So when we decided to fulfil our ambition to cycle from John o Groats to Lands End, what better reason to complete such a challenge than to raise money for the Neonatal Unit at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital who, when Patrick and Robert where born in 1984, cared for them and kept them alive whilst they recovered from their 3 month premature birth. It is a tribute to their services that Patrick and Robert are alive today.

A neonatal unit provides special care for babies that need help breathing, feeding and keeping warm. They also treat babies with life-threatening conditions, babies born to diabetic mothers and babies with very marked jaundice.
We would like to raise money to assist parents visiting and staying at the Neonatal Unit as well as raise money to go towards a new Cranial Ultrasound machine. The Cranial Ultrasound machine provides a non-invasive way of viewing a newborn baby's brain and assists in the overall evaluation of the premature baby's neurological status. The machine is likely to cost in the region of £80,000 and therefore any money we can raise will be greatly received.
If you would like to sponsor us or would like to donate any money to this cause, please contact the persons below.

To the left shows a premature infant receiving Phototherapy treatment for jaundice at the Neonatal unit. This treatment is what Robert underwent as he was badly affected with jaundice.Below is an MRI brain scan of a newborn baby, this is similar to the Cranial Ultrasound machine.

Or alternatively you can download an A5 sponsor form (100KB pdf), print out and complete, then post to the Dartmouth address above. If you are exceptionally keen you can also download a A4 sponsor form (122KB pdf), obtain multiple sponsors and return to the Dartmouth address above, or download a poster (122KB pdf) and display for additional advertising. Thank you very much for all sponsors and donations.
