This album has unfortunately never been released due to the right label deal never presenting itself. Warren described it as “basically a concept album, almost a love story between spies”. Everybody who heard it loved it, but a concept album featuring a mix of vocal and instrumental tracks could not easily be pidgeonholed by the sales led labels. Zaine provides most of the vocals on the vocal tracks. Helden with Zaine sounds very much like the “Figures” album, which is hardly surprising considering that both Warren Cann and Hans Zimmer appear on that album. Spies consists of 13 tracks in total. Lets hope that all those currently working to to ensure this project finally sees the light of day are shortly successful. Cerise Reed from the Ultravox “Extreme Voice” web site has recently posted the followings update on on the site’s Forum page:- “Rob and I have been working on getting Spies out since 1993. It's now closer than it has ever been, to seeing a release - we picked up the mater tapes last Friday (7th April 00), the recoup figure is finally agreed, all we're waiting for now if for Hans to try and find enough time to sort out the artist percentages. When that's done and agreed - we can roll with it. Several record companies are interested, including ones which Zaine himself has lined up for Australiasia / Pacific rim. And yes, Zaine sang the lead vocals on Spies. Incidentally, you'll be interested in the next issue of EV (EV19), it'll have a whole heap on Helden and Spies, including a huge interview, pics (studio shots and ones of the recording of the album), the story synopsis, press clippings, you name it.” Track List:- Once Upon A Time In The .......
