Please be sure to arrive a reasonable period of time before the start for registration, preparation and briefing. The race will start without you.

Finish Point

Parking

In Old Sodbury, parking is not exactly plentiful, but generally cars tend to accumulate down Chapel Lane, but please, only with consideration to the residents who think its an alien invasion. You may end up at least 5 minutes walk back to the Dog Inn so allow time.

In Cold Ashton, we need to take car of the local residents and not strangulate their small village, whilst taking care not to interfere with heavy and fast traffic on the A46. There is some hard-standing by the turn-off into Greenway Lane, but as space is really tight here, please park with great consideration, to allow us to squeeze as many cars in as possible. There is a fair bit of grass around the junction - get well off the A46 - 4x4s will do well here!

Do not park in Greenway Lane. Take great care on the grass verges of the A46. I have seen some farcical parking here before in view of the danger to yourselves and to A46 traffic. This is not a good location to leave cars for subsequent collection, so please get someone else to drive your car onwards. The grass verge of the small road running North from the finish will accomodate about 20 cars.

Ideally you will get here in plenty of time and drive to the pub on the A420 (250m East of the A420 / A46 roundabout) where there is a sizeable car park, and jog through the pretty village to and from the finish. This is the safest, easiest and most considerate option.

Race Profile

Back on the Cotswold Way again, after the interim alternative route used a few years back. Doddington and Dyrham Parks make great backdrops. A gentle and mid-length run.

Description

Section 1

Head off down Chapel Lane, looking for the stile into the meadow on the left. After two to three fields, turn right onto the road, downhill, looking for the gate on the left after 150m. Straight over this field, over the drive, and then join thhe fenced in path up the hill. Now follow the field edge on your left, eventually opening out across a large field to the wooden bridge, then slightly left uphill to the A46. Be utterly careful crossing this busy road here, on its bend. Be sure to use this Route Improvement Click here for details through Tormarton , and include the section taking you over the Tormarton bridge, not back to the J18 roundabout. This takes you all the way back to the A46 crossing, where you should find water. Cross the A46 in the dedicated crossing channel using the traffic island.

Section 2

Along the road into the Car Park, looking for the sign into the Plantation. Do not linger here without intent! Past the end of the plantation, small sign at ground level left along another field border. Then cross the road and maintain the lane to its bend, where you turn right. Carry on round the high edge of Dyrham Park. Back on the road, past St Peter's and Dyrham House, up the hill, and again watching out for the high sign off the road onto the path.

Section 3

Along the field border for a couple of fields, and when it opens out look downhill for the gap across the field. Then uphill, left into the wood and further uphill. Exit along the field edge on the left, and up to the road. Cross directly into the field, THEN turn left to the gate, then right, and onto Pennsylvania. Cross the busy A46 again with great care. Diagonally right, up the field, and again, to hit the A420. Look diagonally left to see the path across the road, and use the space to cross the road with care. Turning right into the village on the road at the end, carry straight on through the village to the finish where the road starts to descend back to the A46.
