The S26 was developed
in the early 1980s as a replacement for some of the existing
Scammell products. This is a 6x6 example as used by the Royal
engineers of the British Army. These have now been replaced by
similar Volvo units. |

The S26 was also
available as a heavy haulage tractor. Outwardly it looks very
similar to the Leyland T45 range - it sharing the same cab. However
the Scammell was significantly more heavily built. This example
is ex-RAF (6x4). They were used for towing Radar trailers and
could often be seen in ballast tractor form. |
