Scammell S26

The S26 was developed in the early 1980s as a replacement for some of the existing Scammell products. This is a 6x6 example as used by the Royal engineers of the British Army. These have now been replaced by similar Volvo units.

The S26 was also available as a heavy haulage tractor. Outwardly it looks very similar to the Leyland T45 range - it sharing the same cab. However the Scammell was significantly more heavily built. This example is ex-RAF (6x4). They were used for towing Radar trailers and could often be seen in ballast tractor form.

S26 in British Army 'DROPS' configuration (8x6). The flat rack on the back is demoutable hydraulically.
