The Commander is the current tank transporter of the British Army. The type is now nearly twenty years old and is due to be replaced soon - but not it seems by the Unipower* 8X8 'M' type click here for a picture - a great shame for the cmpany and its many ex-Scammell employees who now work for Unipower. In fact its being replaced by the Oshkosh HET.

*Alvis Unipower bought out Scammell in 1988 - although not its name, DAF still own the rights to it but its seems unlikely the name will ever be seen again on a new truck.
