Scammell Handyman, Trunker & Routeman
Smart Handyman 4X2 tractor unit. Bromyard Gala 1998. |
| The Trunker was a 6x2 twin steer tractor but Chris Bartons example shown here 'was new to crossman breweries. In 1980 she was sent to Cranes in Norfolk to be converted to a recovery, with the second steer removed and the chassis stretched, fitted with Holmes recovery body and Holmes 600 crane.' | |
Chris continues, 'The Trunker is a very special machine as she has a semi auto 10 speed box and a fluid flywheel, so no clutch!' (seen here being overhauled). Chris has the only other Scammell web page. He previously owned a Pioneer. |

The Routeman used the same cab as the Trunker and Handyman but was an eight wheeler. This is the Mk II version with fridge body. |
