Greyhawk Coinage
In the Flanaess, Gold is the base
metal of the monetary system, as maintained by the bankers of the
land. However, for the common folk, the gold coin is a rarity,
and those of higher value almost of mythical status, save in the
most cosmopolitan areas. To the common folk of the Flanaess,
silver is their base metal, although uncommon, and they tend to
work mainly in copper, brass and bronze.
Silver and gold are used by merchants and nobles, platinum for
larger transactions, and the mithral and silver mithral coins are
basically used for banking transactions.
