English Heritage: Warkworth Castle.

Warkworth Castle. Run by English Heritage. Entry to the grounds is free with a charge to enter the Castle itself.

The magnificent eight towered keep stands on a hill overlooking the river Coquet below. Easter brings with it a beautiful display of daffodils on the Castle banks.  Inside is a labyrinth of stairways and passageways.

The Castle was home to the all powerful Percy family with the most famous being Harry Hotspur, immortalised in Shakespeare's 'Henry IV'.

Also the setting for the highly acclaimed film 'Elizabeth'.
