National Trust.

Hadrians Wall , built by the Romans to repel the marauding Scots, the frontier of the Roman Empire, is surprisingly situated 1 hours drive to the south of Warkworth. A World Heritage site.

The 2000 year old wall stretches the breadth of Northern England taking in Forts, milecastles, turrets and museums. Some ruins are stark and inspiring, others buried in the countryside and hidden in Cities.

Sites on the Wall to visit include:
    Housesteads Roman Fort & museum
    Vindolanda Roman Fort & museum
    Chesters Roman Fort & museum.
