The Northumberland Heritage Coastline is well known for
its beautiful sandy beaches and numerous Castles.
Quaint fishing
ports, many historical sites and beautiful walks
are the hallmark of Northumberland. There is a book in the
cottage describing some of these walks.
Golf courses in the area include, Warkworth, Morpeth,
Alnmouth Village, Foxton Hall, Swarland, Burgham and Linden Hall are all
within a 20 minute drive. Preferential green fee rates are available with a
'parsport' which can be purchased from the local tourist board office.
Alnwick lies 8 miles north, with Alnwick Castle and the
magnificent Alnwick Garden designed by Charlie Dimmock, open to the public.
Alnwick is a market town with a full range of shops, tourist board
office and amenities including a swimming pool and theatre.
Morpeth lies 12 miles south. It is also a market town with a
full range of shops, swimming pool, leisure centre and tourist information
centre.
Excellent shopping can be found at the
Metro Centre in Newcastle, a 45 minute drive south. Free parking, UCI
cinema, children's indoor fairground, ten pin bowling and a full range of
high street stores.
