KENICKIE: NOW WE ARE SIX

KENICKIE have recruited two new members, drummer Graham Christie and keyboard player Dot Allan.

They will be making their live debut on May 26 at Manchester Hop & Grape, the day after the release of the band's new single 'I Will Fix You' [sic].

Graham was introduced to Kenickie by a friend of the band. Dot has played keyboards with Blur and Pulp. Both new recruits are Scottish.

"They're semi-permanent members, like marker pen or hair colour," singer Lauren Laverne joked. "The rehearsals are going very well, we've got lots of new equipment that we've had to lean to use, but it's all under control.

Original drummer Johnny X is now playing guitar, leaving Lauren free to concentrate on singing. Kenickie release their second album, 'Get In!', in August.

After their first gig at Manchester, the band play Sheffield Boardwalk (May 27), followed by Glasgow King Tut's Wah Wah Hut (29), Wolverhampton Varsity (30), Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms (31), Bristol Fleece & Firkin (June 1) and Londomn Camden Electric Ballroom (3). Support for the London date comes from Seafood, support on other dates has yet to be confirmed.

Kenickie have also confirmed they will be playing Phoenix, Glastonbury, V98 and Reading festivals.
