Sport is one of my life's great passions. There is nothing like it. I haven't ever found drama in quite the same way. When one is watching sport live, and one doesn't know the outcome of the event, it is more tense than any play, more exciting than almost anything else. I do not watch all sports. The four main listed ones are the ones that really fire my passion, although in hospital in February 2003, I could not be torn away from the Cricket world cup and in October 2003, the Rugby world cup held the same fascination. I watched the Baseball world series, Winter Olympic games and if nothing else is on TV, I'll usually end up watching a minority interest sport. Much as I would love to include video clips and details of all the achievements listed on the following pages of statistics, but the internet just doesn't quite allow that currently. Neither do I possess video clips of Wanderers winning goal in the 1872 FA cup final or Spencer Gore winning the Wimbledon final five years later. However, achievements such as winning these major events should never be forgotten and thanks to the internet, information detailing these successes is preserved.

The statistics pages are simply for fun comparisons. Many words have been written about whether, for example Michael Schumacher is better than Juan Manuel Fangio driving very different cars, 50 years previously. It actually doesn't really matter. Do not take the statistics too seriously. Just because Frank Hadow only appears as a Wimbledon winner once, does not make him a lesser tennis player than Joshua Pim who won it twice. Unless you know differently of course.
