The Background to the Wars of the Roses.

Tudor Rose

We join the action just after Christmas 1459. The Duke of York and his supporters are in exile in Ireland and Calais. Queen Margaret has manipulated the Coventry Parliament to attaint the Yorkist rebels and is divvying-up their estates to her cronies. Meanwhile, the rebels are planning their comeback and the other princes of Europe look on with interest.

If you're interested in how all this came about, try the history and Royal Genealogy with a brief overview of the real battles of the Wars of the Roses.

There's also information on the nobility of England in 1460, a list of Crown offices (and what they do) and the player characters. Explanations of words and phrases that don't make sense may be found in the glossary. There's a campaign map of 15th Century England, as accurate as I could get it.

NEW! Check out the knights of the Garter! Considered by some to be Christendom's premier order of knighthood.

I use the Medieval Calendar Calculator to work out days of the week and important festivals.
