Hot stone massage is
the application of thermal energy using heated basalt stones. The stones
used are volcanic and contain levels of iron and magnesium which enable
them to hold the heat for long periods of time releasing it slowly.
It is a deeply soothing, relaxing form of massage. It works on what the
body needs - if the stones lose heat quickly in a particular area it
is because the body needs that heat to help it heal. The constant heat
increases circulation and stimulates body function.
Hot Stone massage is particularly beneficial for muscular deep tissue
pain, arthritis and joint problems. The treatment includes an initial full
body exfoliation (30 mins) followed by a 1hr 15 min massage.
