The “RNLI - Will & Fanny Kirby” last original Flamborough Head Lifeboat
Charities to Profit I will also be attempting to raise cash for certain charities: Royal National Lifeboat Institute contacted but not replied, the RNLI will receive a lump sum from the final charities fund. I have decided that the best way of raising cash for charity is to allow the charity to purchase shares in my venture. The cost of which will be returned upon completion of the venture. In other words, they invest in me and in 12 months time they receive back their original investment plus a percentage dependant upon the number of shares they purchased. Charities I would like to benefit from this venture: World Wildlife Fund Children in Need N S P C C Flamborough Light I Know this is not on the Atlantic but as lighthouses go they dont come much better.

Updating Maritime Stories 'To become a master of the oceans' . . . Say that as humbly as you can (that's me) but the meaning remains clear, the Ultimate Maritime Challenge. My five year mission to Seek out and . . . hey wait one . . . that's been done! . . . Some guy called Kirk, methinks. My five year mission starting by Leaving the shores of UK and: Following the complete border of the Atlantic Ocean from Cape Wrath in Scotland - circumnavigating the boundaries of the atlantic ocean +/- a few miles and returning via this route >>> - part one Part two >>> Follow the border of the Indian Ocean Part three >>> Follow the border of the Arctic Ocean Part four >>> Follow the border of the Pacific Ocean Part five >>> Follow the border of the Antarctic Ocean Single handed and in a different small boat for each part As a single complete voyage 36,000 miles minimum distance Photographing major places of natural or scientific beauty Photographing the flora & fauna on air - sea - land Meeting & talking to the wide variety of people who live on the shores of the Atlantic Live primarily off the fish I catch as I go To fish ~ photograph ~ explore each river delta on the Atlantic seafront Write a book covering the complete experiences & adventures Create a photo journal covering these topics (all dear to my heart) ~ Myriad Delta's of the Atlantic Seaboard ~ ~ Atlantic Birdlife ~ Story of Atlantic Lighthouses ~ Atlantic Marine Life ~ ~ Flora & Fauna of the Atlantic Coastline ~ ~ Sketchbook of the Flora & Fauna of the Atlantic Coast ~ ~ Stark Contrast of Atlantic Beauty ~ Atlantic People ~ I also hope to write individual articles for whichever Newspapers or Magazines are willing to accept and print them Raise money for Charity It would also be a bonus if I could enlist the assistance of the TV Productions People for such as BBC - ITV - Tiger Aspect - MPH Entertainment - Tigress Productions - ECO-NOVA Productions - National Geographic etc to name but a few. FAQ the only one. Why would anyone do such a thing? Answer 1 - The Atlantic trip encompasses 50% of the places I would seriously like to visit and have no chance of getting to any other way. Answer 2 - I have done many small expeditions and would relish the chance to 'head up' a serious expedition of my own. Answer 3 - I have been a traveller and explorer on & off all my life, recently there has been too much 'off'. Answer 4 - Writing is in my blood, have you ever tried to get anything published? Some things that may try and prevent the completion of this quest are: Might of the Atlantic waves of 10m Possibly more The TOP 10 Ocean predators live in the Atlantic Severe Cold (Air temps of -38º C, Water Temp -6º C) North Atlantic Gales can reach speeds of over 100 mph LONELINESS - Human Being is not designed to be Alone in the World Huge chunks of debris which roll around in the Oceans of the World MOBY DICK (Hey you never know!) 200,000 ton super tankers For a full route map then click here In the case of a major sponsor preferring the alternate scenario: AROUND-THE-WORLD-IN -A-LITTLE-RUBBER-BOAT. This may look like a certain death journey but I pride myself in my survivability, in that I believe most situations can be overcome by forethought and preparation for the worst case scenario. Yes it will be a monumentally arduous task with so much work, pain & benefits can only succeed in making me a wiser man, and through the vein of Television enlighten even more people in the world to the plight of people and our planet. I would be more than willing to complete a round-the-world voyage first and the Atlantic Eclipse the year after; to my knowledge neither trip has been completed in a R.I.B. yet!
At Present I have been offered a 36 foot wooden hull by a colleague of a friend of mine, its said to be complete and never holed or damaged but I would still prefer to do this using a Rigid Inflatable Boat. If you can help in any way by offering backing or support I would be only to glad to hear from you. Please email if you may be able to assist this quest into reality. Thank You!
